Judge Leonard P. Plank, a Colorado native, graduated from Regis University and received his law degree from the University of Denver. He served as a Colorado Court of Appeals Judge from 1988 to 2002. Prior to his appointment to the court of appeals, Judge Plank served as a Denver district judge for fourteen years and as a county judge for four years. In 1985, he served as president of both the district Judges Association and the State Council of Trial Judges. Judge Plank received the first Judicial Excellence Award by the Denver Bar Association in 1986. |

In 1995, he received the Civis Princips Award from Regis University. He received the Denver Bar Association Award of Merit in June 1999. He also served on the Governor’s Task Force on Civil Justice Reform. Before his appointment to county court, Judge Plank was an associate for four years with Zarlengo Mott Zarlengo & Winbourn, and worked as an attorney with C. F. & I for two years.
After his graduation from law school, Judge Plank served as a Deputy District Attorney in Denver. Judge Plank has served on the Colorado Supreme Court Civil Rules and Criminal Rules Committees. He has served on numerous Colorado and Denver Bar Association committees. He is co-author, with Ms. Anne Gill, Esq., of Colorado Appellate Practice. This book is published in the Colorado Practice Series by West Publishing. In 2003, Leonard Plank was appointed to a multi-year term on the City of Denver Ethics Board.
