Former Jefferson County district judge Leland Anderson joined JAG in February 2007.

Anderson served on the trial bench for ten years in a general combined trial assignment handling civil, domestic, and felony criminal cases. His caseload included complex domestic division of property, construction defect, trade mark infringement, insurance coverage, personal injury, and professional malpractice matters.

Lee Anderson graduated Summa Cum Laude from North Park College in Chicago, Illinois. After receiving his law degree from the University of Denver, where he served as the general editor of the Denver Law Journal, he clerked for the Hon. William Erickson of the Colorado Supreme Court. He was recognized as Platoon Honorman (tops in a platoon of 75 recruits while serving in the United States Marine Corps.). He also served as a Judge Advocate General Corp. (JAG) officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. reserve and the U.S. Army reserve. In 1997, after 18 years in private practice specializing in personal injury, psychological injury, professional malpractice and product liability cases he was appointed to the bench.

Anderson’s commitment to the legal profession is clearly demonstrated by his many awards and recognition for his public service. He was recognized by the Colorado senate for pro bono public services for his effort in resolving the tragic 1987 Berthoud Pass Bus Accident case with the State of Colorado. He received the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award from the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice.
